What is a Data Management Plan?
A DMP is a formal document that details the strategies and tools you will implement to effectively manage your data during the active phase of your research, and the mechanisms you will use for preserving and appropriately sharing your data at the end of the project. A DMP is a “living” document that can be modified throughout your project to reflect any changes that have occurred.
What tools are available at UPEI for creating a DMP?
UPEI provides access to a Data Management Planning Tool on this platform. Log in to https:data.upei.ca with your UPEI credentials to access the tool.
Where can I find examples of DMPs?
McMaster University miantains a database of examples from across the world including DMPs from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Qualitative DMP Competition, DataOne, Digital Curation Centre, Liber, the Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance, and UC San Diego Research Data Curation on one searchable, open-access platform at https://rdm.mcmaster.ca/dmps.
